Hi, I’m Summer Bozohora

I’ve always been an artist since I can remember. I believe we all are. I took Art classes in University and at the Alberta College of Art & Design and began a Masters degree in Art Therapy that transformed into a self-directed program in Spirituality and Mind-Body Medicine. If you want to look at some of my paintings have look at my on-line gallery.
I was a professional artist for many years, participating in shows, selling my work and was a painting insstructor for the EdmontonCity Art Centre for over 10 years. I worked in Hospitals such as the Misericordia Meaningful Mural Project and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital where I developed creative Care programs for various units. I also started Painting parties over 20 years ago, only mine were a little different than they are today. In my programs, students always paint something different from each other. You aren’t going to copy what I’m painting or what everyone else is painting. You are going to paint what YOU want to paint and what YOU are inspired by. Don’t worry, I’ll help you choose an image to start with based on your experience. Myself and others in the course will be there to cheer you on, offer support as to your next steps.
More importantly you’ll be encouraged to experiment and play, and be spontaneous.
I’m going to do FB Lives the 1st and 3rd week of the month in the Creative Sanctuary Soul Play & Paint Facebook Group which I encourage you to sign up for as part of your course. In the Group is where I am going to give you Painting Tips & Tricks each week. I will also have Guest Artists evey-other-month on to show their work and share some of their tips as well.
You can join on a 6 week, 3 month, 6 month or yearly basis with your investment decreasing as your commitment to your Art & Creative Exploration goes up!
I’ve worked with hundreds and hundreds of other burgeoning people who are struggling with motivation to create or who aren’t satisfied with the results of their paintings BUT, we aren’t meant to create alone and I'm here to tell you there’s a better way! And it doesn’t need to take years or months to get the results you are after. (See the Testimonials at the bottom of this page!)

To allow creativity its’ appropriate place in our lives and our culture, our education and our family relationships is to allow healing to happen at a profound level. The intimacy of creativity corresponds to the mystical experience itself. ...

TESTIMONIALS:
"When a group of friends invited me to a Soul-Paint workshop facilitated by Summer, I decided to go. Never having painted before, I felt a lot of trepidation. I went in order to be with my friends, none of whom were artists or painters. Summer used a combination of giving permission to do things my way and encouraging me to move beyond my comfort zone. She remained in the background while offering support at crucial points in the process. I felt emotionally safe. As I eased into trusting the movement of the paintbrush a sensation of warmth spread through my chest on the left side. Then heat flowed up into my shoulder and down my arm. It poured out my fingertips onto the canvas - fiery anger that I had carried for most of my life released into my brush. The emotion was intense but it moved through me quickly. I felt lighter, freer and more playful. Painting brought about a significant breakthrough in the healing of an inflamed rotator cuff and frozen shoulder." Peggy Voth, Social Worker & Jungian Analyst, Calgary. "Be prepared to amaze yourself. Even the most creatively challenged will come away with a belief in their ability to create something of beauty and meaning."
Bette Emery, Social Worker, Edmonton. |
"I had wanted to work on canvas for a long time but had been apprehensive about it. Summer's teaching technique opened endless creative possibilities for me as I felt I had permission to play and explore. The process of painting deepened the process of opening and getting to know myself."
Gillian Watson - Sherwood Park "I was invited to one of Summer's Soul Play and Paint Days and I I'm so grateful that I did. I was deeply moving to experience and fun at the same time. Its as wonderful for me as an artist that paints fora living to go and let go and create in this way. It was lovely to connect with the other ladies and when we are all finished, we shared our work and connected even more deeply. Summer is a masterful facilitator of soul connection.
Sandra Kunz, Artist - Edmonton www.strokeofsoul.com "I have been to three of Summer's retreats because I love her approach - she makes it so easy to be creative. I learned that I really can paint from my imagination! It was one of the most freeing and exciting things I have ever done. I can paint from my heart now and not feel the restrictions I had before. I also learned a dialogue technique to use with my painting that taught me so much about my own spiritual journey and direction." Pam Junck - Reiki Practioner - Sherwood Park |
